How to Say Dates in Spanish

Structure:

El + number + de + month

Examples:

Hoy es el 5 de marzo.
Mi cumpleaños es el 12 de julio.
La reunión es el 20 de noviembre.

Important:

  • We use cardinal numbers, not ordinal (except for the first).

✔️ el 1 de abril (el primero de abril is also possible but less common in speech)

Asking the Date

¿Qué día es hoy?
(What day is today?)

Hoy es lunes.

¿A qué fecha estamos?
(What’s today’s date?)

Estamos a 10 de octubre.
Hoy es el 10 de octubre.

Both forms are correct.
